The text contains a letter from Carl Albert to Amanda Carter, in which he informs her that Overton James has been appointed Governor of the Chickasaw tribe. Carter had written to recommend James for the position, and Albert says that he received many fine recommendations for James. He adds that Carter's endorsement was appreciated and that he is sure James will do his best for the tribe.
