Scope and Contents
The Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes held a special session and adopted a resolution recommending that the Bureau of Indian Affairs continue to contract with the Oklahoma State Department of Education for the administration of the Johnson O'Malley program. If the Bureau insists on contracting with an Indian organization or tribe, the Five Civilized Tribes request to be awarded a single contract for the program in all public schools under the Muskogee Area Office. The resolution was adopted unanimously by the Executive Committee of the council.
