The Southwestern Cooperative Educational Laboratory is focusing its efforts on a primary language arts program with an emphasis on the effects of traditional culture on learning. This program theme is not new, but consolidates and clarifies existing and proposed projects. A student testing program is being conducted in the Laboratory's 11 beacon schools to provide baseline data for program evaluation. Data gathered will be used to evaluate materials and methods introduced over the three-year period of the Laboratory-sponsored program.
