Scope and Contents

The Navajo-Hopi Settlement and Economic Development Act establishes the Navajo-Hopi Settlement and Economic Development Commission, composed of seven members appointed by the Navajo and Hopi Tribal Councils, to resolve the conflicting land interests of the two Tribes. The goals of the Commission are to improve the conditions of life on the Navajo and Hopi reservations and to confirm any rights granted to the Hopi Tribe by the 1934 Act.
