Scope and Contents

The Subcommittee on Indian Affairs is scheduled to meet on Monday and Tuesday, May 22 and 23, to consider several bills relating to land ownership and usage rights by Native American Tribes. Among the bills being considered are those that would declare title to certain Federal lands in Oregon and Montana to be in the United States in trust for the use and benefit of specific Native American tribes, authorize the sale and exchange of lands on the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation, and convey certain federally owned land to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes of Oklahoma.
