Scope and Contents
Mr. Richard Tartsah wrote a letter on October 10, 1972 to Secretary Morton expressing concern about the lack of policies and regulations in Bureau of Indian Affairs schools. He requested immediate action to address disturbances caused by non-elected individuals in the schools. The Speaker responded on October 13, thanking Mr. Tartsah for bringing the issue to their attention and expressing shared concern. Copies of the letter were also sent to President Nixon, Commissioner Bruce, and other members of the Oklahoma Congressional delegation.
