Scope and Contents
Mr. Lona Paul is in dire need of help and has reached out to Hon. Carl Albert for information regarding the Choctaw settlement. The Bureau of Indian Affairs in Muskogee has provided information stating that it may take some time, possibly years, before the settlement is made. The Act of August 25, 1959, authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to sell Choctaw tribal lands and distribute funds, but no decision has been made yet on the distribution of funds. The formation of a corporate entity under Oklahoma State Law is under consideration, with a deadline of August 25, 1965. Mr. Paul is anxious about the settlement and is seeking information on when they will receive their share.
