Scope and Contents

Lon Kile writes a letter to Honorable Carl Albert recommending John Spaan for the Executive Officer position in the Oklahoma City Area Office of the Public Health Service's Division of Indian Health. Kile explains that Dr. McBrayer, the current Director of Indian Health in Oklahoma, is being moved out due to dissatisfaction from the Choctaw Nation. Kile requests Albert's help in getting Spaan appointed for the position, as the Indians believe Spaan is well-qualified and will work effectively with them. Albert responds, thanking Kile for the recommendation and stating that they have also recommended Spaan for the position to various officials. Albert assures Kile that they will continue to advocate for Spaan's appointment.
