Scope and Contents

Mr. Allen N. Amos wrote a letter to Congressman Carl Albert regarding the payment for coal and asphalt lands sold to the Federal Government by the Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes. Congressman Albert assures Mr. Amos that he is working towards getting the full amount of $8,500,000 included in a Department of Interior supplemental appropriation bill so that the tribes can be paid off in full that year. Mr. Amos requests information on what is being done about the sale of the lands and when payment might be received.
