Scope and Contents

Mrs. Ward inquires about the distribution of payments to heirs of deceased members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations for the sale of coal lands. The Indian Office will send proof of heirship notices to heirs, with payments to living members first. It will take about sixty days to complete payments. Congressman Carl Albert explains the process in response to Mrs. Ward's inquiry.
