Scope and Contents

Mr. Ben Austin inquired about the payment to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their coal lands to the government. The full amount of $8,500,000 has been approved and is awaiting the President's signature. Payments will be made to living members of the tribes first, with checks being sent out by the Superintendent in Oklahoma within sixty days. Mr. Austin is advised to confirm his address with the Superintendent. Congressman Carl Albert offered assistance and information on the matter.
