Scope and Contents

Mr. Joe N. Love wrote a letter to Congressman Carl Albert inquiring about the payment to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations for the sale of their coal and asphalt lands to the government. Congressman Albert responded, informing Mr. Love that the Congress had passed a bill including the full payment of $8,500,000 to be distributed to the enrolled members of the tribes. He assured Mr. Love that efforts were being made to distribute the payment quickly. Congressman Albert expressed his happiness that the matter was finally being settled and offered his assistance if needed.
