Scope and Contents

Mr. Isaac Nelson wrote a letter to Congressman Carl Albert regarding the payment to members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations for the sale of their coal lands to the government. Congressman Albert responded that the payments will be made to enrolled members first and will be sent out by the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He expressed his pleasure in helping and offered further assistance if needed. Nelson thanked Albert for the information and assistance in the matter.
