Scope and Contents
Ross Swimmer, the newly-elected chief of the Cherokees, outlined administrative reforms and pledged an early vote on a proposed tribal constitution. Swimmer, at 31 years old, is one of the youngest principal chiefs of an American Indian tribe. He plans to address divisions within the tribe and maintain better communication with tribal members. Swimmer also intends to make various tribal personnel appointments and appoint a 15-member tribal council. He views a trust established by the outgoing chief as a cost-saving measure for the tribe.
