Scope and Contents
Mrs. Caroline Runton wrote a letter to Congressman Carl Albert asking about the payment to members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations for the sale of their coal lands. Congressman Albert responded, assuring her that payments would be made to living enrolled members within sixty days, and that payments to heirs of deceased members would require proof of heirship. Mrs. Runton expressed her gratitude for the update and requested that the payment be expedited, as she is around 80 years old and has been waiting for over 40 years to receive the money.
