Mr. Starrett wrote to Congressman Carl Albert inquiring about the payment of $8,500,000 to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations, which was approved by the President on May 24, 1949. The Indian Office will be mailing out checks to enrolled members, estimated to be around $300, in mid-July. Mr. Starrett requested information on the status of the bill and the amount each Choctaw Indian will receive. Congressman Albert responded, providing details and advising Mr. Starrett to update his address with the Agency to avoid any delays in receiving the payment.
