Scope and Contents
Mrs. Margaret Sands wrote to U.S. Senator Dewey Bartlett regarding the distribution of funds awarded to the Creek Indians by the Indian Claims Commission. She enclosed a petition signed by a group of Creek Indian citizens who do not agree with Chief Claude Cox's plan for the funds and are requesting that the money be distributed per capita. Senator Bartlett acknowledged the petition and stated that he would forward it to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for consideration.
