Scope and Contents

Mrs. Cleo McKinney Peachee received a letter from Carl Albert, M.C., regarding the payment to members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations for the sale of their land to the government. The living enrolled members will receive their money first, and regulations are being written up for this purpose. Checks will be sent out by the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma, around the latter part of July. Children who are not enrolled may receive part of their father's payment if they are found to be legal heirs. Proof of heirship notices will be sent out for completion. Mrs. Peachee should have her daughters in California notify the Superintendent of their correct address to avoid delays in receiving their money. Mrs. Peachee expressed her gratitude for the assistance provided to the Indians by Carl Albert.
