Scope and Contents

In this letter dated March 5, 1964, Senator Mike Monroney acknowledges Mrs. Fearon's concerns about the sonic boom studies conducted by the Federal Aviation Agency in Oklahoma City. He explains that the tests were deemed necessary for the development of aviation industries and to meet foreign competition in supersonic flight. However, he also acknowledges the negative impact of the booms on property and human rights, and the misuse of tax money for the tests. Mrs. Fearon expresses her opposition to the booms due to property damage, violation of peace of mind, misuse of tax money, and the dismissive attitude of FAA officials towards the public's concerns. She urges for a democratic solution and expresses her concerns for future generations.
