Scope and Contents

Mrs. Winnie Wingo received a response from Carl Albert, M.C. regarding her inquiry about payment to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for coal lands sold to the government. Checks will be mailed directly to members from the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and proof of heirship notices will be sent out later in the year. Carl Albert is happy that this old debt is finally being paid and regrets that more members did not live to receive the benefits.
