The letter is in response to Mr. Brokeshoulder's inquiry about payments to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their coal lands. The Indian Office has advised that enrolled members will be paid first. The letter also mentions federal laws prohibiting the sale of intoxicants to Indians on reservations and in Oklahoma.
