Mayor Ervin E. Knocke of Arkansas City, Kansas wrote to Congressman Page Belcher regarding the Chilocco Indian School not receiving a promised planning grant. Congressman Belcher contacted the Bureau of Indian Affairs on behalf of the school, and they explained that no money had been requested for off-reservation boarding schools pending the results of a study. The study will determine future planning and funding for boarding school accommodations for Indian students.
