Scope and Contents

Mrs. Nellie Willard wrote to Congressman Page Belcher inquiring about the payment of the claim of the Pawnee Indian Tribe. The claim was filed with the Indian Claims Commission, which issued a Final Order stating that the tribe is entitled to a large sum of money. Congress has not yet appropriated the funds for the award, but it is expected to do so. Mrs. Willard, who is a descendant of a Pawnee Indian woman, is requesting her share of the settlement money. Congressman Belcher assured her that he will consider her request carefully and that he will check into the matter for her.
