Scope and Contents
The United Indian Tribes of Western Oklahoma and Kansas adopted a resolution during their meeting to secure the administration and funding of the entire Johnson O'Malley Program for the western tribes of Oklahoma. They hope that by securing these funds, they will be able to provide a better educational program for their Indian people. They sent a letter to Mr. Hawkins, Director of Education Programs at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, informing him of their resolution and seeking support for their cause. Congressman Happy Camp also acknowledged their concerns and thanked them for sharing the information with him.
