Scope and Contents
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is investigating allegations of physical mistreatment at Chilocco Indian School. The Superintendent and Principal have been temporarily reassigned pending the completion of the investigation. Contract negotiations with private organizations for the operation of the school have been put on hold. The Bureau is exploring the feasibility of a contractual arrangement to strengthen the school. The Commissioner expresses hope for a resolution and thanks Hon. Page Belcher for their interest in the Bureau's educational programs.
