Scope and Contents
Mr. Bowers wrote a letter to Congressman Page Belcher discussing the Indian situation in Oklahoma and expressing the need for an investigation to correct inequities in the Indian program. Belcher responded, indicating that a complete investigation will be conducted after Congress adjourns and expressing a desire to discuss the matter further with Bowers. Bowers also mentioned his observations of poverty and lack of education among the Indians in Canton, Oklahoma, and suggested the need for an educational program for their benefit.
