Colonel George J. Krause, Commander, Altus Air Force Base, Senator Robert S. Kerr, and Colonel John S. Samuel, Commander, 11th Bomb Wing at airport. Senator Kerr is "greeted upon his arrival to take part in the groundbreaking ceremonies for the 70 unit Capehart housing project at this base. Senator Kerr turned the earth for the first shovel/full of dirt to start the project and was also principal speaker. Rep. Toby Morris of Oklahoma's Sixth District also gave a short address.
