This collection contains the extensive personal collection of organ papers and ephemera of organ enthusiast John Shaum, of Maryland. The collection includes clippings, advertising materials, correspondence, recital programs, postcards, photographs, printed materials, and ephemera pertaining to organ builders and organists in the United States, Canada, France, and the United Kingdom.

Significant persons included in this collection are E. Power Biggs, Marcel Dupré, Virgil Fox, Charles-Marie Widor, Healey Willan, and Louis Vierne. Notable organ building companies included in this collection are the Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company, Austin Organ Company, Casavant Freres, Cavaille-Coll, C. B. Fisk, Holtkamp Organ Company, W. W. Kimball, Noack Organ Company, Reuter Organ Company, Schantz Organ Company, Skinner Organ Company, John Wanamaker Organ Company, and Wicks Organ Company. A small set of Möller Factory photographs rounds out the collection.

Arrangement of Materials:

Original order was maintained in this collection, where possible. The collection is divided into two series with four sub-series. The Organ Builders and Organists sub-series are arranged alphabetically by name. Photographs found in either sub-series were removed to the Photograph sub-series.
