Scope and Contents This story is an adaptation of a traditional story told by Nancy Skye, who was an Absentee Shawnee woman affiliated with the Eastern Shawnee and married to a Peoria tribal citizen. The "Desecration of Corn" story was recorded in 1934 by Erminie Wheeler-Voeglin, who was a trained folklorist as well as the first woman to obtain a doctorate in Anthropology from Yale University.
