Scope and Contents
General Louis H. Wilson, the 26th Commandant of the Marine Corps, provided a statement before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Marine Corps posture, plans, and programs for the years 1978 through 1982. He highlighted the Marine Corps' mission to provide air and ground forces for service with the Fleets, projecting combat power to protect the nation's interests worldwide. Wilson's statement supported the positions of the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Navy.
