Resolution Expressing Support for Direct Vendor Payment of Welfare Rents

The text consists of three separate resolutions passed by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.

1. The first resolution expresses support for direct vendor payment of welfare rents to federally-assisted agencies providing shelter, in order to reduce low-income housing costs and retain families in safe and sanitary housing. The resolution also requests support for a task force to resolve the issue of dual subsidies and misuse of funds intended for low-income families.

2. The second resolution opposes the recommended budget reduction for Indian Housing units and requests that the Department of Housing and Urban Development reconsider the reduction, advocating for a more reasonable proportional cutback based on need and management ability.

3. The third resolution opposes President Reagans proposal to transfer the Small Cities/Discretionary Program from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to state control, arguing that it would introduce unnecessary bureaucracy and political interference and potentially lead to the destruction of the Community Development Block Grant program.
