Darla J. Lowell wrote a letter expressing her concerns about high taxes and the cost of living to Congressman James R. Jones. Congressman Jones responded by agreeing with her views and stating that cutting taxes, controlling bureaucracy, and balancing the budget are necessary to alleviate the economic and political impact of current government policies. He requested Darla's support in this endeavor. Darla reiterated her concerns in a follow-up letter, stating that she will not re-elect anyone unless there is a drastic change in government policy.
