Rep. Jim Jones Proposes Reforms in Oklahoma Election Laws, 1973-01-01 - 1973-12-31
Rep. Jim Jones proposed reforms to Oklahoma election laws to increase transparency in political contributions, make it easier for Oklahomans to register and vote, and restrict certain campaign practices. Key proposals include periodic reporting of expenses and contributions, granting contributors the option of a tax credit, limiting cash contributions to candidates, and prohibiting mingling of personal funds with campaign funds. Additional proposals include establishing limits for loans, restricting candidates to one campaign committee, and increasing the number and availability of voter registrars. Jones also recommended other disclosure requirements to increase transparency in campaign financing.
