Response to Inquiry about Language Variations in the Lord's Prayer, 1977-04-30
Item — Box: 4, Folder: 11
Identifier: CAC_CC_109_4_22_11_0034
Mrs. Myrtle Prophet requested information on the use of "debts" and "trespasses" in the Lord's Prayer. Congressman Jones's office informed her that the Federal Government cannot dictate the language or form of prayer, and therefore could not change the Lord's prayer through legislation. They provided information from the Library of Congress on the topic and offered further assistance if needed.
