Response to Mrs. Cartwright Regarding the Proposed Panama Canal Treaty, 1977-08-23

Mrs. Betty Cartwright wrote to James R. Jones expressing her views on the proposed Panama Canal Treaty. Jones is reserving judgment on the treaty in order to study the language and arguments for and against it. Arguments against the treaty include ownership and national security concerns, while arguments in favor include the vulnerability of the canal and the importance of control and access. Jones promises to carefully consider all facts and opinions on the issue.
