Addressing Concerns over Senate Appropriations for Adolescent Health Services and Pregnancy Prevention and Care, 1979-07-05
The text is a response to a concern expressed about the Senate Appropriations Committee proposal for adolescent health services and pregnancy prevention and care. The author shares the concern and has contacted Senator Bellmon to advocate for increased funding for teenage pregnancy programs in Oklahoma. The Senate Subcommittee on Labor/HEW Appropriations has recommended $1 million for FY'79 Supplemental and $20 million for FY'80 Appropriations, which is an increase over what the House recommended. The full Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to mark-up the bill in July, and if they sustain the Subcommittee's recommendation, it is likely to be approved. The author hopes the larger funding amount will be kept in the FY'80 budget to provide adequate services for adolescent parents.
