James R. Jones, a Member of Congress, thanks Mr. Tom Ballard, a probation officer, for attending a meeting on drug abuse in the military. Jones has been studying information gathered from a recent trip to Europe and plans to make recommendations to the Department of Defense, including suggesting a maximum overseas tour of duty of 18 months for military personnel unaccompanied by family to reduce drug problems. Jones offers his assistance to Mr. Ballard if needed.
