A constituent, a member of the Sports Car Club of America, proposed holding their annual convention on an AMTRAK train in 1986. However, the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad refused to cooperate, leading the author to seek assistance from Honorable James R. Jones to persuade the railroad to reconsider and allow the convention to take place in 1987.
